We are absolutely delighted to share some very special news…
Rehome has won One Small Step for Sustainability in the kitchen category at the Ideal Home Awards 2026.
For a business built around one simple belief – that beautiful kitchens deserve a second life – this is a milestone we are incredibly proud of.
Rehome has always been about helping people create the homes they dream of in a smarter, more affordable and more sustainable way. So to be recognised by Ideal Home, one of the UK’s best-known and most trusted homes and interiors brands, feels especially meaningful.
This is not just recognition for Rehome as a business.
It is recognition for the idea that pre-loved and ex-display kitchens have real value.
And that feels huge.

Why this award means so much to us
Ideal Home has been a part of British homes for more than 100 years. First published in 1920, it has become a trusted source of interiors inspiration, decorating ideas, renovation advice and practical guidance for homeowners across the UK.
That is why this award feels different.
Ideal Home speaks directly to people who are planning renovations, designing kitchens, improving their homes and making big decisions about where to invest.
Those are exactly the people Rehome was created to help.
As our founder, Helen Lord, explains:
“To be recognised by Ideal Home is incredibly special for us because it reflects what homeowners really care about: creating beautiful homes in a smarter, more affordable and more sustainable way.
“We have previously been recognised through business and sustainability awards, including B Corp certification and The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, but being recognised by a trusted consumer home brand feels especially meaningful because homeowners are at the heart of everything we do.”

From one renovation to a new way of buying kitchens
Rehome began after Helen’s own home renovation. Like many homeowners, she wanted a beautiful kitchen, but she also wanted to find a way to make it more affordable. That search led her to explore whether buying a pre-loved kitchen could be possible.
The idea made complete sense. There were high-quality kitchens already out there. Many still had decades of life left in them. Many were being removed because a homeowner wanted a new style, or a showroom needed to refresh its display.
Helen explains:
“Rehome began after my own home renovation, when I was searching for an affordable kitchen and started exploring whether buying pre-loved could be possible. I managed to achieve my dream kitchen, but the process was challenging, and there was very little support or reassurance available for buyers trying to purchase in this new way.”
Since then, we have spent years building a safer, clearer and more transparent way to buy and sell pre-loved and ex-display kitchens.
Every kitchen listed through Rehome is carefully reviewed. Information is checked. Details are verified wherever possible. And the process is designed to give buyers far more confidence than they would have when trying to navigate the second-hand market alone.
Buying a kitchen should feel exciting, not risky.
Bringing a circular economy to the kitchen industry
For years, many perfectly good kitchens have been removed, skipped or wasted, despite still having enormous value.
Rehome was created to change that.
By helping high-quality kitchens find new homes, we can extend the life of beautifully made products, reduce unnecessary waste and make aspirational design more accessible to more people.
For sellers, it means their kitchen can continue to be loved rather than thrown away. For buyers, it means access to premium kitchens at a fraction of the original cost. And for the planet, it means fewer high-quality materials being wasted unnecessarily.
That is why winning One Small Step for Sustainability feels so fitting.
A step towards a more sustainable way to renovate.
Sustainability and beautiful design go hand in hand
One of the most exciting things about this award is what it says about the future of home renovation.
Sustainable choices are no longer just niche ideas.
More homeowners are realising that making a planet-friendly decision does not mean compromising on style, quality or aspiration.
In fact, choosing a pre-loved or ex-display kitchen can often mean the opposite. It can open the door to beautifully made kitchens, premium brands and high-end finishes that may otherwise have been out of reach.
As Helen says:
“What's more exciting is that this isn’t just a niche sustainability idea anymore, and this award proves that. Rehome has helped bring circularity to the kitchen industry by ensuring high-quality pre-loved kitchens are ‘rehomed’ rather than wasted, making renovations more affordable, accessible and enjoyable for everyday homeowners.
“We’re proud to prove that sustainability and aspirational design can go hand in hand.”
The Ideal Home Awards celebrate the best in homes and interiors, and to be recognised by such a long-established and respected interiors brand is a proud moment for our whole team.
Thank you to Ideal Home for recognising that sometimes the most sustainable kitchen is one that already exists.
