Selling with Rehome

Multi award-winning interiors journalist Kate Watson-Smyth’s philosophy is that your home should tell your story.

The story of Kate’s kitchen begins here, at Rehome, where she sold her used solid beech Habitat Olivia kitchen.

When Kate first moved into her house one of the first things that she noticed, as most people do, was the kitchen. Friends dropping round had noted that this was a freestanding Habitat Olivia, first made in the 90’s, and had spoken nostalgically to Kate about how they had either had one or wanted one but been unable to afford it.

Despite the used kitchen being complete with storage baskets and solid beech shelves, it wasn’t a perfect fit for Kate, who had accumulated 12 years of kitchenalia, and having moved from a larger kitchen made the decision to redo the whole room and install a new and bigger kitchen.

Kate’s initial plans involved putting the Habitat Olivia into storage and then taking it with her to Italy when the time came for her to move. It was only when Kate found a house that already came complete with a kitchen that was perfect for her that she discovered the beauty of selling a used kitchen through Rehome.

Kate got in touch with us via the ‘Something to Sell’ button on our website, filled in the form with all the information she currently had on the kitchen and attached some images. From here, our expert sales team were able to give Kate a guide selling price and arrange her marketing survey. Kate noted the simplicity of the process, as all of the measurements, photographs and videos are done by one of our many professional photographers. They also inspected Kate’s used kitchen and quality checked in order to achieve the most accurate listing price possible. The price and the listing were sent to Kate to approve and our marketing of the kitchen began.

Offers and questions about the kitchen are all happily dealt with by our Sales Team and passed on to a seller when needed, so that Kate and other sellers are ensured a stress-free process.

Whilst we do recommend 6-8 weeks for the marketing of a kitchen in order to secure a sale, Kate’s kitchen (like many others) sold much quicker than this.

Along with our other sellers, Kate was offered our Which? Trusted Trader Dismantle service, taking away the hassle of organising the safe removal of a kitchen and instead giving the responsibility to our team of skilled and experienced professionals.

By contacting Rehome about selling her kitchen, Kate unlocked more for her home improvement budget, whilst also reducing the waste that comes with skipping a used kitchen. Kate remarks how “Your current kitchen is a financial liability, with rip and skip charging roughly £500 for the average kitchen, even if you don’t make thousands, you are still saving money”.

Whilst saving money is a priority for sellers and buyers alike, the comfort of knowing your kitchen has found another loving home and not gone to landfill is another thing all of our sellers can agree on. Kate’s kitchen alone saved 200kgs of carbon and approximately 2 trees.
