     Tips & Tricks

Renovating can be expensive. By now that’s something we’re all aware of, and no matter how many ‘renovation on a budget’ hacks there are out there, it still all adds up to an often weighty sum. That’s where Rehome come in to help, offering a solution for that existing interior you’re wanting to replace. Ensuring your pre-loved kitchen is re-loved in another home, whilst unlocking money towards your renovation budget is what we do, and it’s as much of a win-win situation as it sounds. Selling your kitchen through us really is a no-brainer, and just because your kitchen may not be suitable for your home anymore, doesn’t mean that another family won’t love it for years to come.

We will arrange for one of our professionals to come and survey and photograph your space. So, what is it that you need to do?
Making your kitchen look the best it possibly can before survey is the best place to start the sales process. Here are a few of our favourite tips and tricks to ensure our photographers can capture your kitchen in its best light.

Declutter the worktops:

Apart from making it look generally untidy, cluttered worktops will make it look like storage is something your kitchen is lacking, and may put potential buyers off. Try to remove anything that isn’t worktop appliances or decorative. Be sure to also wipe down all worktops, no one wants to see those toast crumbs.

Remove excess clutter:

The same goes for any floor clutter- pet bowls, school bags, shoes, etc. are all things that may draw focal attention away from the kitchen and feel generally untidy.

Move your bin:

If your bin is freestanding, consider moving it into another room for the duration of the survey. This makes the space feel tidier, more spacious and generally more inviting to potential buyers.

Empty the dishwasher:

You may not think people will want to see inside your dishwasher, but they will- emptying the dishwasher makes it easier for people to see the condition of the appliance, as well as making the kitchen feel generally cleaner.

Empty under the sink:

Rehome’s dismantle team will need to see under the sink in order to help assess the dismantle process, and having too many cleaning products and sponges under here will prevent them from doing so. The same applies for any cupboards with plug sockets inside them.

Clean the sink and plug hole of any food remnants:

No explanation needed!
If you have a ceramic sink that is stained, using Bar Keepers Friend or similar products can help remove these. Try to avoid the use of bleach, if possible, as it can be especially harmful to the environment.

Tidy inside cupboards if needed:

Yes, we’re talking about the Tupperware cupboard. We all have one and it’s always a mess, but tidying it can make the kitchen appear more appealing to potential buyers. The same applies for kitchenware. Spending a couple of minutes neatly arranging your mugs, plates, etc. can make all the difference.
